WALKS & OUTDOORS
Walk more. Drive less.
You do not need a heroic hike to get the best of the Cotswolds. The useful routes are often the ones that join two villages, climb to one good view or give you enough countryside to justify a long lunch afterwards.

Three ways to get outside without turning the day into an expedition
We favour routes and outdoor places that fit naturally into a Cotswolds trip — easy to combine with a village, pub or attraction and clear enough that you know what sort of day you are signing up for.
Stow to the Slaughters
A classic village-to-village idea through field paths and the Eye valley, with Lower and Upper Slaughter giving you natural pause points.
Broadway and the escarpment
Use Broadway as the comfortable base, then climb out of the village towards Broadway Tower and the higher ground above.
Winchcombe walking country
Winchcombe is one of the easiest places to mix a proper walk with Sudeley, pubs and a town that still feels useful when the boots come off.
GOOD WALKING BASES
Pick the landscape before you pick the route
Painswick puts the Cotswold Way on the doorstep. Winchcombe is brilliant for loops and longer paths. Broadway gives you escarpment views, while the Slaughters are ideal for gentler village-to-village walking.
