Wellington Aviation Museum

A local history collection in the railway town, with changing displays and a useful context for exploring the north Cotswolds.
Opening hours
Sundays 10am–4pm, from Easter Sunday to mid-November; closed outside the visitor season.
Location: Bourton Road, Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire GL56 0HB
Wellington Aviation Museum is an intimate collection with a strong connection to Moreton-in-Marsh. The town’s wartime airfield trained crews on the Vickers Wellington bomber, and the displays bring that story down to the scale of the people who passed through. RAF memorabilia, aviation art and local records sit inside part of an old Victorian school building.
It suits visitors who like to linger over photographs and small details rather than expecting a huge aircraft hangar. The museum also covers the effect of the Second World War on the town, including the Wings for Victory appeal, prisoner-of-war camps and the presence of the US Sixth Armoured Division before D-Day. For families with an aviation enthusiast, it gives the area more depth than the High Street alone.
The museum is on Bourton Road, a short walk from Moreton-in-Marsh’s centre, with parking nearby. Its limited Sunday season is the key planning point: check that your date falls between Easter and mid-November before travelling.
