Visit website

The Mermaid is a listed inn on Burford High Street, with medieval elements and a long history as a place to stop and eat. Today its kitchen pairs seasonal British cooking with a strong seafood offer: day-boat fish arrives from Brixham and the fish board changes regularly.

The pub also serves Sunday roasts, local ales and cocktails, with an enclosed courtyard garden for outdoor meals and drinks. Dogs and children are welcome, and the central location makes it an easy pause during a walk along the High Street.

When to book

Friday and Saturday evenings fill first, so reserve ahead if you want a table. Lunch is served through the afternoon and dinner begins in the early evening; check the official menu page for the latest catch and seasonal dishes.
