Lechlade’s riverside appeal is stronger when the morning has somewhere specific to begin. Lynwood & Co is in Apsley House on Market Square, giving you a coffee-and-breakfast stop in town before a chosen stretch of the Thames Path.

Breakfast before the river

The Lechlade café opens at 8am throughout the week. Its seasonal menu belongs to Lynwood’s Australian-influenced coffee-and-food approach: a place to sit and eat, rather than merely collect a takeaway cup. The current menu information includes granola and yoghurt and a Reuben melt; check the day’s choices when you arrive.

For a short visit, we would make breakfast the settled part of the morning, then choose how far to walk according to the weather and the group. You do not need to reach a distant riverside landmark simply because you have brought walking shoes.

Keep the route local

Our Lechlade Riverside & Thames Path entry gives you a starting point for choosing the outing. Use a current map and check local conditions, especially after rain. Some river paths can be muddy or affected by rising water; the café remains a useful town stop even when the intended walk needs changing.

Return here for a daytime lunch if you want the simplest version of the outing. Alternatively, choose a separate booked pub meal rather than combining several meals because a guide has mentioned them. Fairford is a different town visit, not a continuation of the Lechlade café’s surroundings; give it another morning if you have time.

Practical information

Lechlade’s published hours are Monday to Saturday 8am–4pm and Sunday 8am–3pm. Ask about kitchen service before planning a late meal. Use this branch’s phone number for allergies, seating or access needs; Lynwood has cafés in several Cotswold towns, and their details are not interchangeable.

For a dog or pushchair, ask about the table arrangement you actually need. A small town-centre café can be welcoming while still having limited space at a busy time. Keep the breakfast and riverside walk flexible enough to enjoy both.
