At Aston Down, above the Stroud valleys, Cotswold Gliding Club offers a different view of the south Cotswolds: a two-seat glider, an instructor beside you and, once airborne, a much quieter landscape than you get from the road. On a clear day the club says you can see the Severn to the west and the hills to the north-east.

An introductory flight begins with a safety briefing. You can enjoy the view or ask the instructor about the controls; the club sells several experience lengths and also takes group bookings. Flying depends on suitable conditions, so keep the rest of the day flexible and confirm the booking arrangements before setting out.

This is an active airfield, not a place to wander in from the nearest lane. Follow the club’s visitor directions and airfield safety briefing rather than relying on its postal address alone. The published flight restrictions include a minimum age of 14 and height and weight limits, which are worth checking before buying a voucher.
