Corinium Roman Town Trail

Town-centre trail connecting Roman clues, museum collections and surviving traces of Corinium's streets.
Opening hours
The trail is outdoors and can be followed at any reasonable daylight hour; museum access and events have separate hours.
Location: Corinium Roman Town Trail, Cirencester, Gloucestershire
Corinium Roman Town Trail gives you a practical way to explore the Cotswolds on foot, joining the details of a town or village with the lanes and views just beyond it.
Plan the visit
Allow 60–120 minutes, wear shoes suited to uneven ground and use the waymarkers with an OS map or local leaflet. It works well as part of a half-day rather than a rushed photo stop.
Opening hours
Public rights of way are open year-round with no fixed hours; mud, livestock and temporary diversions can affect the route.
Why walk it
Corinium Roman Town Trail turns Cirencester’s Roman history into a street-level experience. Look for the way the modern town follows the old settlement, then use the museum and amphitheatre to fill in the detail that is easy to miss outdoors.
Build it into the day
Allow a couple of hours if you want both the trail and Corinium Museum. The route is easiest in daylight and works well with the Market Place, Abbey Grounds and a café on Black Jack Street.
