Cirencester Civic Society’s volunteer guides make the Roman town easier to read. In about 75 to 90 minutes they connect the Market Place and surrounding streets with the people and buildings behind two thousand years of history. The route is roughly a mile and a half: manageable for many visitors, though it is still a walking tour rather than a seated talk. Children are welcome with an adult, and dogs can join.

The open public walks run from April to October. For October 2026 the society lists Thursday at 2:30pm and Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 2:30pm. Meet outside the south porch of the parish church in the Market Place, where the guide’s information board is displayed. You can normally turn up without booking, but check the society’s page on the day because walks can change at short notice.

There is no fixed charge; the society suggests a donation toward its community projects. If those public times do not fit, you can arrange a private walk throughout the year. A small Civic Society map from the local information centre or Corinium Museum is a useful companion for exploring further afterwards.
